Flowers

My favourite way to paint flowers is wet-in-wet. I begin by dampening both sides of the sheet with clear water, and then removing the surface water with a dry (and clean) rolled up towel. This leaves a sheet that stays damp for a long time and allows for repeated layers of colour. In the dark days of winter, when daylight hours are short and it's pretty grey outside, I often choose to buy a little bouquet from the grocery store or paint some fruit on my kitchen counter.
